Casual Merchandiser Opportunity at Dis-Chem Mall of Africa

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is seeking a Casual Merchandiser for its Mall of Africa store in Midrand, Gauteng. This part-time role focuses on maintaining merchandising standards, restocking products, and providing excellent customer service. The position is ideal for entry-level candidates looking to gain retail experience while supporting operational efficiency and store presentation. Applications close on 06 April 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Restock merchandise to ensure maximum sales and product availability.
• Store and pack delivered stock in the correct locations efficiently.
• Monitor sell-by dates and rotate stock regularly using FIFO principles.
• Maintain full product range on shelves at all times.
• Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired products to management.
• Assist with stock counts, stocktaking, and back shopping.
• Build, face up, and maintain merchandising displays in line with Dis-Chem planograms.
• Ensure shelves and products are neatly presented with correct labels and pricing.
• Provide courteous and helpful assistance to all customers.
• Follow all health and safety procedures, store policies, and SOPs.

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 / Matric is essential.
• Up to 6 months’ retail experience required; 1 year or more is advantageous.
• Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office.
• Willingness to work retail hours and handle physically demanding tasks.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong command of English and professional presentation.
• Effective engagement with customers, colleagues, and management.
• Honest, trustworthy, and capable of time management.
• Bilingualism and knowledge of FMCG merchandising standards are advantageous.
• Understanding of product categories, ZMORE reports, and stock analysis is a plus.

Special Conditions of Employment

• Must be physically fit to lift and move stock.
• Reliable transport or reside near the store.
• South African citizenship required.
• Clear credit and criminal records.
