Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant Opportunity at Dis-Chem Dainfern

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is inviting applications for a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant at its Dainfern store in Fourways, Sandton, Gauteng. This permanent position focuses on providing professional pharmaceutical care, ensuring patients’ medicine-related needs are met, and maintaining compliance with legal and professional standards. Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification
  • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
  • Experience using Unisolv
  • Computer literate in MS Office
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Proficiency in English and a second language
  • Willingness to work retail hours

Advantageous Skills

  • Knowledge of Retail/FMCG operations
  • Third language proficiency
  • Experience with SAP and E-Scripting
  • Knowledge of drug and family planning and complementary medicine

Duties and Responsibilities
The role involves a combination of dispensing, patient care, and stock management tasks:

  • Assist with the sale and distribution of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines
  • Compound, prepare, or manufacture non-sterile medicines under pharmacist supervision
  • Repackage medicines and manage stock according to standard operating procedures
  • Accurately interpret and prepare prescriptions, including labelling and patient instructions
  • Capture prescription and patient details on the system
  • Ensure medication accuracy, checking for common dosages and drug interactions
  • Advise patients at the dispensary, self-medication, and front shop areas
  • Process and correct medical aid claims and authorisations for chronic, HIV, AIDS, and oncology medication
  • Maintain and merge customer profiles, and follow up on scripts and appointments
  • Report stock shortages or errors and assist with bi-annual stock takes
  • Exercise stock, cash, and asset control in accordance with Dis-Chem procedures
