Applications Open for the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness Learner Pharmacist’s Assistant Programme 2026. The Department of Health & Wellness hereby invites individuals to submit applications to join the Learner Pharmacist’s Assistant Programme. You will receive formal training from a registered training provider accredited by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC). On successful completion of the course you will be eligible to be registered with the SAPC as a Post-Basic Pharmacist Assistant

Duties

  • To provide support and assistance to the pharmacist(s) at our health care facilities.
  • Deliver a comprehensive, efficient and cost-effective pharmaceutical service to patients and other health workers, in line with statutory requirements.

Requirements

To qualify the interested individuals should possess the following (Below mentioned must be clearly stipulated in CV):

  • Be between ages of 18 – 35 years old.
  • Be in possession of a National Senior Certificate with Matriculation Exemption (Mathematics, Physical and/or Life Sciences), or an equivalent NQF level 4 qualification. Subject marks should be clearly indicated.

  • Candidates must comply with the advertised appointment requirements of the post by the closing date and time of the advert.
  • Candidates may be subjected to a competency test.

  • As directed by the Department of Public Service and Administration, applicants must note that further checks will be conducted once they are shortlisted and that their appointment is subject to positive outcomes on these checks, which include security clearance, qualification verification, criminal records and previous employment.
  • All shortlisted candidates, including SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments.
  • One will be a practical exercise to determine the candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements, and the other will be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment.

It will be expected of shortlisted candidates to be:

  • Available at the venue on the time and date as determined by the Department
  • Bring along recently (not older than 6 months) certified copies of your Identity Document (ID), driver’s license (if applicable for the post), qualification and/or proof of registration at relevant statutory body etc.
  • Failure to adhere to the aforementioned may lead to his/her application being disqualified and not further considered.
