Dispensary Support Opportunity at Dis-Chem Three Rivers

Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Three Rivers, Vereeniging, is offering a fixed-term opportunity for a Dispensary Support role. This position is designed for learners aiming to complete the learner basic pharmacist assistant course, gaining practical experience in a professional pharmacy environment. Successful candidates will receive hands-on training and support while preparing for registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC). Permanent employment is offered once learners qualify as basic pharmacist assistants.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate.
- Pure Mathematics, Life Science, and/or Physical Science with a minimum average of 50%.
- Successful completion of a proficiency test to qualify for SAPC learner basic assistant registration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines and scheduled substances.
- Support compounding, manipulation, and preparation of non-sterile medicines according to approved formulas and SOPs.
- Unpack, merchandise, and organize dispensary and OTC stock under pharmacist supervision.
- Learn to accurately interpret prescriptions and act professionally within legal requirements.
- Pick, pack, label, and check medications with awareness of common dosages and drug interactions.
- Assist in stock management, including checking expiry dates and ensuring dispensary cleanliness.
- Follow up on patient prescriptions and service calls as directed by the dispensary manager.
- Assist with chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication scheme authorizations.
- Maintain accurate records of low-stock items and stock discrepancies.
- Receive and process dispensary stock according to company SOPs.

- Proficiency in English and a second language.

- Basic computer and numerical skills.
Advantageous Skills:
- Previous retail FMCG or Dis-Chem front shop experience.
- Knowledge of drug, family planning, and complementary medicine.
- Familiarity with systems such as Unisolv, SAP, and E-Scripting.
Special Conditions of Employment:
- Proficiency test to assess capability for SAPC registration.

- MIE, with a clear criminal and credit record.
