Terry Pheto Celebrates 2 Decades of Tsotsi’s Iconic Oscar Win. These are some of the incredible moments that make South Africa to be one of the best countries in the world. Back in 2006, Tsotsi, a hit local movie went on to bag a major international award.

Tsotsi, made the whole country proud when it walked away with an Oscar in 2006 for Best International Feature Film. This saw the film become the first South African film and first African film not made in French to win the award. Tsotsi was also nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.

The 2005 movie, took us into the life of David was a young street thug who stole a car only to discover a baby in the back seat. David was played by none other than the late Presley Chweneyagae, who delivered a class act. The part earned him the Golden Horn Award in 2006 and put him up there as one of the great actors. Presley starred alongside another legend, Terry Pheto. They instantly became global stars and the nation’s pride.
