Purpose of the Role

The main purpose of the Warehouse Clerk – Forwarding is to monitor inbound and outbound deliveries, maintain accurate records, and support smooth warehouse operations. This includes verifying shipments, updating systems, and collaborating with the Supply team to ensure timely and accurate processing.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor Inbound Deliveries

  • Collaborate with the Supply team to list expected deliveries and prepare for efficient receiving
  • Receive shipments and verify packages against purchase orders and packing lists, checking quantity, quality, and packaging
  • Inspect contents to ensure goods are undamaged
  • Label deliveries and allocate them to designated storage areas
  • Record and report any discrepancies to the Supervisor and Supply team
  • Maintain accurate electronic and physical records to assist in inventory control

Supplier Payments and Returns

  • Ensure goods are accurately registered and receipted onto the ERP system to facilitate supplier payments
  • Provide documentation for returning unsatisfactory shipments or receiving replacements

Manage Bond Outbound Deliveries

  • Create Bond SARS clearing instructions
  • Validate SAD500 draft
  • Update BoE details onto D365 system
  • Prepare delivery notes for Bond Sales Orders

Monitor Receiving and Bond Performance

  • Capture receiving data and update visual management boards
  • Troubleshoot issues and provide solutions to operational challenges

Housekeeping

  • Maintain tidy workstations by practicing basic housekeeping principles

Health & Safety

  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety policies within the warehouse environment

Requirements

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Entry level experience in warehouse or logistics operations preferred
  • Attention to detail for verifying shipments and maintaining records
  • Basic knowledge of ERP or inventory management systems is an advantage
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
