Retail Store Assistant Opportunity at Dis-Chem Selgro Centre

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a motivated Retail Store Assistant for its new Selgro Centre store in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. This permanent role offers an opportunity to join a growing retail team in a fast-moving consumer goods environment.

The Retail Store Assistant will support the overall management of the store, ensuring operational and administrative duties are executed in line with company policies and procedures. Candidates will play a key role in maintaining excellent customer service, managing stock, and supporting daily store operations.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have a Grade 12 / Matric certificate, basic computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and familiarity with SAP. Previous retail experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle customer compliments and complaints, escalating issues to management when necessary.
• Build professional relationships with customers and address their stock queries.
• Assist customers with enquiries and direct them to appropriate departments.
• Maintain customer turnover rates per hour as per company benchmarks.
• Manage cash floats, refunds, returns, and back shopping processes.
• Verify deliveries and invoices for accuracy and assist the Receiving Manager with Distribution Centre claims.
• Control high-risk stock and ensure proper daily reconciliation.
• Maintain effective communication between relevant parties and ensure document control, including petty cash and cash on hand.

Competencies
Applicants should have operational and retail administration knowledge, strong teamwork and customer relations skills, and leadership potential. Honesty, trustworthiness, and the ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines are essential.
