Internship Opportunity: Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA) Programme 2025–2027

The Department of Employment and Labour has opened applications for the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA) Internship Programme for the 2025–2027 period. This initiative aims to equip young graduates with practical experience in labour law compliance and workplace regulation.

The programme offers 3,197 internship positions across South Africa, providing a valuable opportunity for recent graduates to gain hands-on experience while earning a monthly stipend of R7 860.50.

Educational Requirements
Applicants must hold a three-year tertiary qualification such as a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in one of the following fields:

  • Labour Relations
  • BCom Law
  • LLB
  • Labour Law
  • Commercial Law

Key Responsibilities
Interns will support departmental efforts to uphold fair labour practices through:

  • Conducting workplace inspections to monitor compliance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Sectoral Determinations (SD), and the National Minimum Wage Act (NMWA).
  • Assisting with investigations into reported complaints and potential violations of labour laws.
  • Providing administrative and logistical support to labour inspectors in their daily operations.
