Pharmacist Intern Opportunity at Dis-Chem Willowbridge

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is offering an internship opportunity for a Pharmacist Intern at its Willowbridge store in Cape Town. The internship is designed to help graduates apply their academic knowledge in real-world pharmaceutical practice. Interns will gain exposure to dispensary operations, customer care, stock management, and regulatory compliance, all under the direct supervision of qualified pharmacists.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 or Matric.
  • Completed a four-year BPharm degree.
  • Computer literacy, especially in MS Office.

It is advantageous if applicants have:

  • Work experience during their degree, such as holiday work.
  • Knowledge of Unisolve and E-Scripting systems.

Key Responsibilities

The Pharmacist Intern will:

  • Dispense Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines under supervision.
  • Assist in compounding, manufacturing, and repackaging of medicines according to approved procedures.
  • Interpret prescriptions, select and label medicines, and ensure accuracy before supply.
  • Provide patients with clear instructions on medicine use and promote health awareness.
  • Process medical aid claims, resolve rejections, and explain costs to patients.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure correct script capturing.
  • Monitor stock levels, report shortages, and participate in scheduled stock takes.
  • Provide customer support at the dispensary and self-medication counters.
  • Uphold Dis-Chem’s policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
