Lemogang Tsipa Seemingly Responds to Critics Over King Shaka Zulu Casting. He is one of the best actors of our time. Lemogang Tsipa has been on many shows, slaying every role he gets. Currently he is making waves for his role as King Shaka Zulu.
The seasoned actor played both the younger and older version of the character, dropping to 68kg to capture teen Shaka. Lemogang had a month to gain the weight back and go up to 76kg, for the ow matures King Shaka. To achieve this his breakfast consisted of six eggs and two sausages, muesli, yogurt, and fruit. His lunch would include 500g rice and 250g chicken, and heβd have protein shakes all day.
The hit series is right in the middle of season II, and the storyline is captivating. This past Sunday saw the untimely passing of King Dingiswayo, who was captured and beheaded by Zwide. The iconic king was played by award winning actor, Thembinkosi Mthembu. The fact that Thembinkosi will never be on Shaka iLlembe had many of his fans saddened. Some even suggest that he, should have been given the lead role of King Shaka.
Now critics are on to Lemogang, alluding that he shouldn’t have gotten the role. Since he is half Pedi, half Tswana, his casting has risen eyebrows. Some feel the role should have been given to a Zulu actor. Lemogang’s fans are defending him though, stating that the man was born in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal. They also feel he is killing the role, as much as Thembinkosi killed playing Dingiswayo.
In the midst of all the debates, Lemogang took to X, with a ‘lol’, post. It seems like the man is not fazed, by what critics are saying.
