Thembinkosi Mthembu Bids Farewell to His Shaka iLembe Character Dingiswayo. Thembinkosi Mthembu nails every role he gets. From being a villain, a hero, a leader, a lay man, a family man, a player, he acts his heart out. One of his most recent role is playing Dingiswayo on both seasons of Shaka iLembe series.
From the first season, the multi-award winning actor showed off what brilliant an actor he is. What he brought to Shaka iLembe has been nothing short of iconic and will forever be part of South African television history. The brilliant performance he displayed, earned him both a SAFTA and a Sabela Award for Best Actor in a drama series.
History teaches us that Dingiswayo survived so much, but in the end, he got murdered. In 1816 Shaka returned to the Zulu to claim chieftainship, while still recognizing the larger Mthethwa and Dingiswayo as overlords. However, in the course of an attempted invasion of Zwide’s territory, Dingiswayo was captured and beheaded by Zwide. This happened at Ngome, near Nongoma. The Shaka iLembe storyline followed the same story with Dingiswayo getting murdered in the last episode.
The man behind the character, Thembinkosi, took to Instagram to bid farewell to Dingiswayo. He hails him as a great kind, a visionary leader and a man of unwavering honor.

Social media users, were hurt of Dingiswayo’s tragic passing. This means that there won’t see their beloved Thembinkosi on the series. Nonetheless, many hailed him for the great acting her displayed.
