He has put his full support behind the under 23 South African Wheelchair Basketball team. The team has been representing the country very well, and are the 2025 IWBF U23 Africa Menβs Championship. The team beat Libya 51-38 victory, earning their place at the 2025 IWBF U23 World Championship later this year.
The tournament saw six nations compete, with debut appearances in the junior international competition for Liberia, Libya, and Egypt. The competition highlighted the rapid growth of wheelchair basketball across Africa, as teams demonstrated determination, skill, and progress throughout the event.
South Africa remained unbeaten in the competition, progressing to the final after a 66-24 semi-final victory over Kenya. With a solid defensive approach and a composed offensive execution, they controlled the championship game against newcomers Libya to claim gold.
Now the African champs are about to represent the country at the U23 World Championship. Eric, posed with the team, and wished them all the best traveling to Brazil. He has a strong belief that the team is bringing the cup home.
