Applications Open for the John Thompson Apprenticeships 2025 (20x Posts). John Thompson invites Applications for unemployed South African for Boilermaking & Welding Apprenticeship programme 2025. These positions are aimed at youth with an engineering interest who reside in the Western Cape. Applicants should meet the minimum academic and physical requirements.

Available Apprenticeships:

• Trade: Boilermaking & Welding
• No prior experience required as training will be provided

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must meet one of the following academic qualifications:

• Grade 12 (Technical) with:
  • Metal Work, Welders Theory, Technical Maths (not Maths Literacy), and Technical Science
• Grade 12 (Academic) with:
  • Mathematics (not Maths Literacy) and Physical Science
• N2 Certificate with:
  • Platers Theory or Welders Theory, Maths, Engineering Science, and Platers Drawings
• NCV Level 4:
  • Fabrication (no Maths Literacy)

Additional Requirements:

• Must be medically fit
• Must show interest in engineering
• Age: 18 – 35 years
• Reside in the Western Cape
• Must undergo and pass a Psychometric Test
• Successful candidates will first complete a 3-month evaluation as unskilled workers before being offered full apprenticeships

Important Notes:

• No applications will be considered for other trades like Electrical, Diesel, Fitting & Turning, Motor, ND qualifications, or already qualified artisans
• CVs without academic certificates will be disqualified
• Interviews will be held at John Thompson’s Bellville Office
