Newzroom Afrika Suspends Aldrin Sampear Following Road Rage Incident. Just a day before the long weekend, Aldrin Sampear found himself trending on social media. This came after a video of having a heated confrontation with another driver emerged online.
The event, happened on Thursday, April 17, on the busy streets of Randburg, Gauteng. Sampear can be seen charging at the female driver, as the two exchange words following a minor collision between their vehicles. In the clip, the seasoned news anchor and media personality, repeatedly asks the woman why she gave him the middle finger. The woman then asks him why he hit her. After some time Sampear walks back into his car, and the woman follows him and insists he’s not leaving.
Responding to the incident, Sampear admits that there was an exchange of words between him and the woman when they were stationary. He however, states that the trending video is an edited version of what really transpired. According to Sampaer, he went to his car for his phone and license to share with the driver. He vehemently denies assaulting the driver, and said they have exchanged details. The matter has been reported to the police, and Sampear has left things to his legal team, which will take it from there.
His employer Newzroom Afrika has released a statement on the matter. The news channel has temporarily relieved Sampear off his duties pending an internal review. Newzroom Afrika also shared that they take the allegations very seriously, and will work swiftly to address the concerns raised.
