Inside Lunga Shabalala’s Baptism. In the past couple of years, many of our local celebrities became Sangomas. A lot of people questioned the authenticity of this, and dismissed it at fake. Now we are having celebs becoming Christians, and showing that off through baptism.
In recent months, we have had the likes of Rosemary Zimu, Ntobeko Sishi, Bahumi Mhlongo, Candice Modiselle, Gugu Khathi, Rouge and Cassper Nyovest shared their baptism content on social media. A few month back, another personality, Vusi Thembekwayo shared that he has given his life to Jesus. Thembekwayo now constantly shares biblical scriptures, something that many of his followers appreciate. Reality show star and media personality Innocent Matijane, is also living a new life, as a Christian.
The latest celebrity to publicly declare their faith as a Christian is Lunga Shabalala. The model, TV, personality and actor recently got baptized. Lunga took to social media to share content of his baptism, and how it made him feel. He describes the day as the happiest of his life, and quoted a Biblical scripture, that goes in harmony with the step he took.

Lunga is among celebrities, who try to live a controversy-free life as possible. Sadly some things are beyond one’s control. Towards the end of 2024, there were reports that he spent some time in prison. He was accused of allegedly hitting an Uber driver at a petrol station in Sandton, Johannesburg. The driver allegedly slapped Lunga’s girlfriend, actress Sindi Kheswa, during a trip.
