Applications Open for the Norwegian Embassy Administrative Officer Post. The Norwegian Embassy in Pretoria is looking for an experienced and dynamic Administrative Officer to support Norway’s participation as a guest country in the G20 under the South African presidency in 2025.

The Embassy employs 25 staff, working in teams dealing with political and economic affairs, development assistance, visa and consular issues. The Embassy is accredited to South Africa, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Lesotho, Botswana, and Namibia.

The administrative officer will be part of a G20 team involving diplomats and other locally employed staff. We are seeking to strengthen our team with a new local employee as soon as possible.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Administrative Officer will mainly be providing administrative support related to Norway’s participation in the G20, including in working groups and ministerial meetings, as well as civil society engagement groups.

  • Support relations with the South African G20 presidency and facilitate meetings and official visits from Norway
  • Provide logistical, technical and other administrative support to Norwegian G20 delegates
  • Contact with civil society, academia and private sector stakeholders about Norway’s participation in the G20 and facilitate meetings with the Embassy
  • Other administrative support related to the Embassy’s coordination of Norway’s participation in the G20 as well as bilateral relations between Norway and South Africa. 
  • Assist the Embassy in any other areas of work, including organization of meetings and events

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • University degree in relevant field, such as international relations, development economics, social sciences or similar
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience from working in a government agency, an embassy, or a relevant international NGO or private entity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Knowledge of a Scandinavian language is an advantage
  • Experienced in using Microsoft Office incl. Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel, Power Point
  • A robust professional network within South Africa is an advantage
  • Willingness to travel
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and be able to work independently, efficiently and to take initiative
  • Applicants must be able to work as part of a team, have strong organizational, problem solving and networking skills
