Thami Ngubeni Warns Against A Fake Video Using Her Face to Lure People Into Investments
Thami Ngubeni Warns Against A Fake Video Using Her Face to Lure People Into Investments. We live in a world of advanced technology, which is both a blessing and a curse. As much as technology makes our lives easy, some people on the other hand use it for criminal activities.
Normally scammers use pictures of celebrities, claiming that they are the faces of certain financial investments. The likes of Maps Maponyane, Anele Mdoda, Phatu Makwarela, Sorisha Naidoo, Thuso Mbeu and so many others have had their identities used in scamming activities.
The latest celebrity to experience that is Thami Ngubeni. The seasoned media personality’s face is used in a video where people are lured into investing in a financial scheme. Listening to the voice though, the person doesn’t sound like her. The video also feature the faces of businessman and political leader Elon Musk and President Cyril Ramaphosa, with questionable voices of course. Thami has warned against the video, and asked people to be more vigilant.
“Warning & Disclaimer: I categorically distance myself from any video currently circulating that encourages individuals to invest in specific financial schemes. This broadcast never happened. It’s deepfake. It’s a scam. Please exercise caution with any video featuring my likeness or the likenesses and voices of individuals, especially those in the public space. Criminals are concocting These videos and using lies and deception to rob you of your hard earned money and for other nefarious reasons. Always verify the authenticity of information before making financial decisions. Please be careful and discerning. Don’t become a victim,” Thami warned.
