Social Media Reacts to the News That SARS Is Raiding Shauwn Mkhize’s Home. Currently trending on social media is the news that Shwaun Mkhize’s La Lucia, Durban, home is being raided by SARS officials and the police. The exact reason for the raid is still unclear at this point.
The High Court in Durban has granted the Revenue Service a warrant and preservation order until there’s a compliance to the country’s tax laws. Further raids allegedly, are also currently taking place in her properties in Pietermaritzburg and Sandton.
The affluent businesswoman, reality show star, author and flamboyant influencer had battled with the tax man for years. A few years ago, SARS successfully obtained a final liquidation order against Mkhize’s company, Zikhulise Cleaning, Maintenance and Transport, indicating that it owed a whopping R204 million in unpaid taxes. Now “MaMkhize”, as she is popularly known, reportedly owes Sars R37m in back taxes. Mkhize has however, always maintained that she is clean and has never been charged with fraud.
