Zakes Bantwini Takes A Moment to Apologize Over His View On DJ Cleo’s SAMAs Set
Zakes Bantwini Takes A Moment to Apologize Over His View On DJ Cleo’s SAMAs Set. As the saying goes, the first to apologize is the bravest. Zakes Bantwini did not think twice about apologizing when DJ Cleo called him out on his recent tweet.
On Saturday, DJ Cleo was one of the music acts, who took on the South African Music Awards stage. The award winning DJ brought the house down with his set, playing Kwaito hits. The likes of Arthur Mafokate, Thebe, Abashante, and other 90’s giants were featured in the beat. Those who could relate, danced the night away, and those who were born post Kwaito, also danced along.
With these kind of things though, you definitely can’t please everyone. One person who feel somethings could have been done is Zakes Bantwini. The Grammy award winning DJ, was happy about the set, but feels Durban Kwaito was not represented adequately in the mix. He took to Twitter to share his point.
In response DJ Cleo feels that Zakes could have said his view in a different manner. He feels that as someone who has his number, Zakes could have called him. Cleo also added that SAMAs are very political, and are not his show, where he has full control.
“Lets lead the youngins by example & not do social media rants like them. I beg,” Cleo added.
Without wasting anytime Zakes apologized. He said his comment was only driven by his love for music. Zakes also agreed with Cleo that he should have communicated to him directly, as opposed to on social media.
“I apologize if my previous tweet offended you. My comment was driven by my passion for music. You are right; I should have reached out directly. Please accept my sincere apology,” Zakes Bantwini wrote.
