Rami Chuene Reveals Some of the Challenges Faced By Actors

Rami Chuene Reveals Some of the Challenges Faced By Actors. Over the years actors have always complained about their unfavorable working conditions. Among other things it’s the terminations of contracts, shows getting canned, actors not being paid royalties, or going on for years with no gigs. Their challenges are many, and no matter how much actors complain, the situations is getting worse.

Just recently it has been reported that Champions and Gqheberha are getting cancelled. Two more telenovelas following suit are Isiphetho – Destiny and Umkhokha: The Curse. This is not only a blow for viewers, but the cast and crew members are suffering the most. It is a loss of jobs for them.

Weighing in on the situation, entertainment blogger Phil Mphela urged producers to stop making telenovelas. He said that the problem with telenovelas is that we are just making the same shows. They have the same look, same storylines and they never go anywhere beyond one season, with a few exceptions here and there. Veteran actress Rami Chuene, cited that they need telenovelas, for job security.

I hear you mara re bereke kae? These days a 13part series is shot within a month. That time banks want 6 months banking statements,” Rami chipped in.

Rami also answered people who complain of seeing the same faces over and over again. She reasoned that in all professions, people can work for decades, so actors should also be granted the same privilege.

A doctor works in same field for years, from one company to another. No one says: yoh, same doc from Bara to Life4ways to Waterfall. It’s the same with entertainers. It’s just work except spotlight’s on us. SABC, Mzansi, Etv, Netflix, Showmax, etc. we’re here to work. That’s all, Rami said.
