Vele Manenje Applauded for Her Excellent Acting Skills . She is one of the most talented actresses of our time. Vele Manenje has been cast on quite a number of shows, and nailed each role she got.
One of her most recent roles is playing Evelyn Maswahla on SABC1 educational drama, Skeem Saam. She made her debut on April 27th 2021. Evelyn, entered the scene as a former schoolteacher, who seemed quite strange at first. She then got a job as an English teacher at Turf High. As time went by, the character got more screen time and a bigger storyline.
Evelyn has mental health issues, and sometimes has episodes. She has however managed to beat the odds, by becoming Turf High deputy principal. Her world changed after her son Tobias Maswahla (Sicelo Buthelezi) got expelled from University and moved to Turf to stay with her. Upon his arrival, he got into a relationship with Ntswaki.
One night they had sex, which later turned out to be not consensual from Ntswaki’s side. She opened a case of rape, much to the shock of Toby. The court case has been going on for some time, and the whole time Evelyn rallied behind her son. Viewers were also invested in the case, waiting to see how it ends.
During the sentencing, the judge pointed out that sexual intercourse is a reciprocal act where both individuals are active in the act. However, in this case, it appears that only one individual was active in the sexual act while the other remained inactive. Toby was eventually found guilty and has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Evelyn was all sorts of emotions, in the courtroom.
