Bontle Modiselle Opens Up About Carrying the Guilt of Her Father’s Suicide. It has been 27 years since the Modiselle sisters lost their father, and to date, they still hold him in high regard. Percy Solomon Modiselle, passed away in 1997, from suicide. Every time the trio gets the chance to speak about him, one gets to understand that he was a great man that loved his family.
Recently Bontle Modiselle was DJ Sbu’s guest on the Hustlers Podcast. She opened up about many things, including family, dance, business, career, radio, acting, and her upcoming Netflix film, Piano Love. Although, Bontle was all emotional speaking about her dad, she held it together, sharing the most intimate details.
The family recently went to visit her father’s grave, with her daughter around. Although it was her first visit, her daughter interestingly, described her grandfather’s tombstone, exactly how it is. She even shared that he knows her grandfather, after being shown his picture. Even though she was only shown a portrait, she described her grandfather’s physical features, including his height.
This did not shock Bontle that much, because before her father’s passing, she dreamt about him. She was only six years old when that happened, and immediately went to tell her parents about the dream when she woke up. The following day, she saw her father in the wee hours of the morning carrying some tools. When she went up to him, he assured her of his love for her, and told her to go back to sleep. Bontle’s father went awol, and unfortunately he committed suicide. Bontle revealed to DJ Sbu that she has carried the guilt for years.
