Applications Open for the Department of Health and Wellness Development Youth Internship

The Department of Health and Wellness invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for Development Youth Internship. The posts are, Assistant to Artisan, Groundsman, Laundry and Linen Assistant, which will be until 31 March 2025

ATA ( Assistant to Artisan) Duties:

• Assistant Artisan or Handyman with technical work.
• Make all tools and materials available before commencing.
• Clean areas on completion of work.

Groundsman Duties:

• Clean grounds at health facilities by utilizing hand tools and power tools under supervision.
• Assist with the maintenance of buildings through the cleaning of roofs, gutters, drains and ablution facilities at Health Institutions.
• Load tools & materials before commencing of projects and clean areas on completion of work.

Laundry and Linen Assistant Duties:

• Washing, drying, folding and ironing of linen, clothing and other textiles.
• Clean grounds at health facilities by utilizing hand tools and power tools under supervision.
• The load/unload of clean/dirty washing and loading/unloading of washing machines and tumble dryers.
• Assist with the maintenance of buildings through the cleaning of roofs, gutters, drains and ablution facilities at Health Institutions.
• Assist with the mixing of chemicals used in the washing process.
• Load tools and materials before commencing of projects and clean areas on completion of work.
• Monitor the quality work.
• The emptying of soiled linen bags for sorting and counting, the sealing and stacking of clean packed linen bags for dispatch purposes.

Minimum Educational Qualification:

• General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) /grade 9 (Std 7)

Inherent Requirements of the job:

• Physically fit to do manual labour.
• Must be the ages between 18 – 35 years old.
