Social Media Reacts to the News that SABC Fired Thuso Motaung. He is one of the best radio veterans in the country. This though does not exempt Thuso Motaung from the harsh realities of the industry. News doing the rounds is that he just got fired from his job at Lesedi FM.
hIS dismissal traces back to a significant controversy in 2023, where Ntate Thuso made explosive accusations against Thabo Kofa, an award-winning SABC sportscaster. During a virtual meeting between Lesedi FM staff and management, he claimed that Kofa was plotting to kill him, his wife, and their children. Ntate Thuso detailed how Kofa, a colleague of over 30 years, allegedly orchestrated threats against his family over work-related disputes. Ntate Thuso, has thus received his dismissal letter following a conclusive meeting regarding his future with the broadcaster.
His wife, Mamontha Motaung, has also allegedly been dismissed from her job as the head of the SABC Free State and Northern Cape region. She was presented with the choice of either resigning from her current position or relocating to head the SABC’s Northwest operations.
This is not the first time the Motaungs have faced dismissal from the SABC. In 2006, both were fired amidst accusations of defrauding the broadcaster of R34 million in airtime sales between 2004 and 2006. These past allegations, combined with the recent controversy, paint a complex picture of the couple’s tenure at the SABC.
