Social Media Reacts to Terry Pheto and Thula Sindi Being Named in R5m Lottery Fraud Report

Social Media Reacts to Terry Pheto and Thula Sindi Being Named in R5m Lottery Fraud Report. It’s not raining but pouring for Terry Pheto. The multi-award winning actress is once again making headlines with corruption allegations.

The former SA darling’s image was tainted when she was pointed out among other eight individuals accused of fraud relating to funding by the National Lotteries Commission towards the end of 2022. Terry’s house was then up for auctioning by Special Investigating Unit, and has since been sold.

This morning, 14th February, SIU released a report detailing their recent investigations. Among other findings, grant intended for a poultry farm ended up in bank accounts linked to Terry, her sister Dimakatso Pheto, and Sindi Thula. The trio are entangled in a controversy involving the alleged misappropriation of a R5m grant from the National Lotteries Commission intended for a poultry farm.

According to the report R5m was granted to a company, Zibsibix, by the lottery in December 2018. The money was paid into different accounts. Sindi’s company, Black Planet Trading, received R140,000, while Terry’s two companies and her personal bank account received R3.2m. Dimakatso received R124,000 and R315,000.

The case has been referred to the civil litigation unit for recovery and criminal referrals are being prepared for the National Prosecuting Authority.

As expected Terry and Sindi trended on social media, because of them being public figures.
