Yaya Mwanda Gushes Over Her Modeling Gig at the Joburg Fashion Week. After 9 years as a model, Yaya Mwanda recently reached a cool milestone. She got the opportunity to walk the ramp at Joburg Fashion Week this past Friday.
The ex Big Brother Titans participant, is a plus size model, make up artist, body positivity activist and an aspiring actress. She draws inspiration from Ashley Graham, a well renowned plus sized model, who changed the narrative of conventional beauty. Yaya has been modelling since 2014 and she absolutely loves it. Over the years, she has had the pleasure of working with a number of well known brands and national magazines. Among the publications she has worked for include, Drum Magazine, Essentials Magazine, Essays of Africa, True Love magazine and Bona Magazine. Yaya has also appeared on a few TV commercials, for brands such as Edgar’s, Rich Factory and Thabootys. As an actress, she has made appearances on prime time shows such as The Queen and Scandal!.
Yaya has just realized another dream, and that was being one of the models at the Joburg Fashion Week. She modeled for multi-award winning fashion brand, Malondie.
“I’m still in awe of the wonderful work God has done in my life. Friday was such a dream come true for me. Finishing my 9th year in the modeling industry as one of @malondie_official’s woman at the @afi_sa was something of a fairytale,” Yaya gushed in appreciation.
She then thanked Londeka for entrusting her with the great duty of representing the brand on a world stage.
“I’m so honored, it could have been any other incredible woman but you chose me. Your work ethic is unmatched and may your brand continue to grow and go to great lengths. God will lead you to places you never even dreamed of. I loved every moment of being A Malondie Woman 💚“, Yaya added.
