Big Brother Titan’s Juicy Jay on How He Found Out About AKA’s Passing. It has been a month now, since the untimely passing of Kiernan AKA Forbes. From his family, fans and loved ones, everyone is still battling to come to terms with the incident.
The multi-award winning rapper, TV personality and entrepreneur and his close friend, Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, were gunned down outside a restaurant on Florida Road, Durban. The pair are thought to have been on their way to a nightclub for a performance as part of AKA’s birthday celebrations when they were shot.
Although the news was widely published both locally and internationally, there are those who only got to hear about the it recently. One of those is Big Brother Titan’s former housemate, Juicy Jay. This is because, AKA passed while Juicy Jay was still in the house, where the housemates know nothing about the outside world.
The reality show star and rugby player is part of the Megacy, and regards AKA as his favorite South African artist. On the day of AKA’s memorial service, Juicy Jay had viewers shocked by singing one of Super Mega’s hit songs, Jika, featuring Yanga Chief, while doing his household chores. He also added with two Xhosa sad songs, about mourning parents.
Immediately after he was evicted, one media personnel pulled his aside to tell him that AKA has passed away. Juicy states that his mood then changed and all he wanted was his phone.
“It still feels so unreal, When I left the house, just as I got off the stage, one of the media guys just came to me (I thought he was gonna tell me it was a fake eviction) to tell me AKA is dead, my mood changed immediately, I just wanted my phone real quick,” he said.
When he got home, he wanted to confirm the news and sadly it was true. Juicy is also hurt by the manner in which his idol passed, and he doesn’t wish it on anyone.
On a lighter note, Juicy is grateful for the music that AKA gave the world. He encouraged everyone to show AKA love by listening to his posthumous album, Mass Country. To him he remains his fave, a legend and a go-to artist. He also sent his heartfelt condolences to the Forbes family and loved ones.
