Pearl Thusi Explains Her Absence From AKA’s Memorial Service. Obviously not every celebrity could make it to Kiernan AKA Forbes‘ memorial service on Friday. Having noted that, there are those whose absence was felt because of the relationship they had with the deceased.

One celebrity who was notably absent at the memorial was Pearl Thusi. The talented actress, media personality and entrepreneur was quite close with AKA. The late rapper used to date DJ Zinhle, who has been best friends with Pearl for years. From the relationship, the couple had their daughter Kairo Forbes, who is more like a sister to Thando Mokoena, Pear’s firstborn daughter.

Although her mom was not there, Pearl attended the emotional memorial service. During service, Thando was spotted embracing little Kairo and giving her a few words of encouragement. The video clip went viral, with a lot of people impressed by the love, support and maturity that Thando displayed. Tweeps also applauded Zinhle and Pearl on how well they raise their daughters.

Pearl on the other hand kept on expressing her feelings on Twitter while the service was on. A day earlier she said, the timing of her being Isha Foundation during this time was truly in the stars. This is a non-religious public service organization, which addresses all aspects of human well being through Yoga and Outreach programs. Pearl described it as the best place to heal and make sense of everything that was happening at the moment.

Someone must have missed the tweet, because on AKA’s memorial, they asked about Pearl’s whereabouts. She answered that she was in India.

“I’m in India,” Pearl explained her absence.
