Cyril Ramaphosa Takes a Moment to Congratulate Zakes, Nomcebo and Wouter on Grammy Win. This is definitely a proud moment for the whole country. Zakes Bantwini, Nomcebo Zikode and Wouter Kellerman bagged themselves a Grammy award.
The trio walked away with the Best Performance award in the Global Music category, at the Grammys. The award is for their hit song ‘Bayethe’. This is Kellerman’s fourth Grammy, while it’s a first for both Bantwini and Zikode. This was such a special moment for the country, more so since Trevor Noah was the host for the 3rd time in a row.
For their amazing win, they have been congratulated by their family members, peers in the music industry and the country at large.
Wouter, Zakes and Nomcebo have also received the a cool compliment from the highest office in the country. President Cyril Ramaphosa has taken it upon himself to congratulate the trio. He applauded them for representing the country well internationally.
“Congratulations to @WouterKellerman, @ZakesBantwiniSA and @NomceboZikode for winning the Best Global Music Performance #Grammy for their collaboration ‘Bayethe’. We applaud you for your brilliant contribution in placing South Africa on the world stage once again,” the president said.
South Africa is now becoming a force to be reckoned with when it comes to these awards. A year ago, Black Coffee bagged his first Grammy Award for hit album, Subconsciously. The multi-award winning DJ was battling it out in the Best Dance or Electronic Album category, making him the first South African producer to won or let alone be nominated in this category. He is also the first African DJ to win the award. Coffee beat Sylvan Esso, Illenium, Major Lazer, Ten City, and Marshmello to scoop the award.
