Phila Madlingozi Responds to Reports That Viewers Are Not Feeling Gqeberha. There is a new telenovela taking the country by storm. Gqeberha The Empire. has only aired 6 episodes thus far, but it is already the talk of town.
The Eastern Cape-based telenovela, follows the life of polygamist and successful businessman, Luzuko Mxenge. He is married to three different yet strong women: Bulelwa (Zikhona Sodlaka), Zimkhita (Zandile Msutwana) and Nozuko (Bikitsha). Luzuko is in the process of getting a fourth wife, and his decision to expand the family soon threatens to bring out the bitterness his wives have long suppressed. The character is played by the talented Mbulelo Grootboom.
Among the other casts members is Phila Madlingozi who plays the role of Ntando Mxenge. The young man is a typical problematic rich kid, who is spoiled as well as a mummy’s boy. One thing about Phila, he has been hyping the show way before it even started airing. Even now, the talented musician and actor, is ready to defend Gqheberha from trolls.
When Zalebs ran an article that some viewers are not happy with Gqheberha, Phila immediately silenced the trolls. According to the article, the telenovela is under fire for poor production as well as redundant story line. Some social media users are also not happy, stating that Gqheberha has many talented actors, but it’s not living up to the hype.
Responding to the article, Phila said, “GQEBERHA THE EMPIRE WAS CREATED FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF EC FILM. ITS CREATED TO SHOW OFF OUR PEOPLE AND PROVINCE. DONT WORRY ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE. JUST ENJOY THE RIDE.”
