ICYMI! An Emotional Lasizwe Bids Farewell to His YouTube Channel
ICYMI! An Emotional Lasizwe Bids Farewell to His YouTube Channel. Just like many current entertainers, Lasizwe has social media to thank for his breakthrough. He used to post funny videos on Facebook, and ultimately create relatable South African content. His first breakout video, Ek Sal Doom Jou, was a skit based on news reports of a controversial pastor that sprayed the faces of his congregants with insect repellent in church. The video went viral which led to different brands approaching him for commercials.
He then launched a YouTube channel in January 2017, which is currently sitting at over 750k subscribers and 86,909,996 views. The channel is one of the favorites in the country and beyond, thanks to its content. In April 2019, Lasizwe received the silver play button from YouTube for reaching 100,000 subscribers. Among his many achievements was being among creators and artists from around the world who are the inaugural #YoutubeBlack Black Voices Fund class of 2021.
Sadly Lasizwe has reached that point, where he has decided to end this journey. It is not an easy thing for him to do, but he feels, this is a great decision. The entertainer cited that in the past year he wasn’t really consistent, and didn’t give the channel his all. He still wants the channel to reach a million subscribers, so he will leave it active to grow until then. But he won’t be making new content for it.
Lasizwe then thanked everyone who has supported him on his YouTube journey, from the start to date.
“Making this video has been so difficult for me as YouTube is my first home. Thank you to everyone who has supported and helped me grow in my YouTube journey, but it’s time we say goodbye to this chapter and let’s make room for a new ERA,” he said.
I would like to thank everyone who has supported me on my YouTube Journey, but it is the end… https://t.co/dCUUm9WVS6
