Zoleka Mandela Reveals How Far Her Cancer Has Spread. Over a week ago, Zoleka Mandela took to social media to reveal that she has just been diagnosed with Bone Metastasis. This type of cancer in the bones cannot be eradicated nor can it be cured.
She did a CT scan and bone scan, to determine whether she has cancer in the remaining parts of her body. Zoleka also opened up about her fears saying she doesn’t want to die and didn’t even have the words to explain to her children.
“What do I tell my children? How do I tell them that this time around, I may not get to live my life as a survivor? How do I tell them everything will be okay when it’s not? I’m dying … I don’t want to die,” Zoleka said.
A couple of days later the author and activist came back with an update. She started by thanking her well wishers for all the support. Zoleka then revealed that the cancer is also on her lungs, liver, ribs, spinal cord and hips. We wish her a speedy recovery as she recently started her treatment journey.
“I wanted to thank you all, profusely for all your prayers and well wishes, for your generosity and kind deeds! 🙏🏾 I’m home and recovering from the side effects of my first session, to treat the cancer in my lungs, liver, ribs, spinal cord and hips. I’m battling to come to terms with my diagnosis, it’s both daunting and terrifying. Prayer for acceptance and peace that passes all understanding. Peace. Passion. Positivity,” she said.
The author and activist is a two-time cancer survivor, and always uses her experiences to inspire others. Zoleka, who penned a book in 2014 about every personal problem she had gone through, was treated for breast cancer in 2011, which returned in 2016. She has also a number of times opened up about the side effects of her chemotherapy treatment.
