Lol! SABC News Team Wins The #JessicaWeAreLive Challenge. Twitter never seize to amaze. A major news bulletin flop on TV, has been turned into a light moment we didn’t know we needed. Last night two Namibia news anchors had us all in stitches when they totally went off script during a live broadcast.
The main character Jessica, interrupted her colleague Elmarie Kapunda, who wanted to engage her in a light conversation before her sports insert. The news anchor starts the live link and gives room for Jessica, the sports reporter to continue. However, Jessica doesn’t know the cameras are rolling, so she cuts Kapunda off and instructed her on how she should introduce her. Immediately, the news anchor said, “Jessica…we are live!” making the whole news room freeze.
As expected, Tweeps had a field day with this incident. Although it happened in Namibia, the whole of Africa caught the cold, and memes are galore on social media. Many have hailed Jessica a heroine who made the NBC trend across the entire continent for the very first time. Others however believe that there are some unresolved personal issues between Jessica and her colleague.
Of all the challenges, we however have to give it to the SABC News team. Sakina Kamwendo and her colleague almost gave us heart attacks, when they took over the challenge this morning.
