Pastor Enoch Phiri Apologizes For His Views On Bishop Makamu’s Scandal
Pastor Enoch Phiri Apologizes For His Views On Bishop Makamu’s Scandal. The past Sunday’s Amabishop episode will go down history as the most talked about one. Everyone wanted to hear what Bishop I Makamu was going to say for himself after speculation that he asked for sexual favor from a young female congregant.
This came after a viral recording of a conversation between Makamu and an unidentified woman emerged on social media. On the audio, the Rea Tsotella presenter, is asking the church congregant who works for him for something that many have concluded to be a sexual favor. After the lady gave him her physical address, Makamu wanted reassurance that no one will see him, and that the lady was alone. He repeatedly asks her if she “will give him,” and the woman giggles whilst maintaining her decision of not giving him what he is asking for.
Makamu was the given a chance to clear his name on Amabishop a religious show that is hosted by, Nimrod Nkosi. In the panel, were fellow men of God, Joshua Maponga, Pastor Enock Phiri and Apostle Makhado Ramabulana. Many viewers though, felt that Maponga and Phiri were taking the side of Makamu over the lady.
“I wish to apologize unconditionally for the way the message was conveyed by myself as if i was in support and condoning the alleged actions of Bishop Makamu. I hereby, distance my self from any utterances which undermines women and to be more specific those victims who have suffered under the Clergy,” Phiri said.
He further said it is his responsibility to protect women and children in the church against the charlatans and those who seek to exploit them financially, sexually and otherwise. Phiri apologized to Amabishop as well as those who follow him on various platforms both TV and social media.
