“I’d Turn Back Time If I Could,” Florence Masebe Remembers Her Late Son. . Loosing a child to death is one of the most painful experiences to go through as a parent. It is quite often that children outlive their parents, but sadly due to circumstances beyond control, a lot of parents have buried their kids. Celebrities like Zoleka Mandela, Nhlanhla Nciza and Mona Monyane know that pain very well.
Every now and then they share beautiful posts about their late children on social media to show that they might be gone, but they are not forgotten. Florence Masebe, who lost her son Masakona Matsila a few years ago, constantly remembers him with heartfelt posts. Masakona was born on the 28th of April 2014 and sadly lost his life in a drowning accident on his mother’s birthday on the 14th of November 2015. He was only 18 months old.
Masebe released a book in 2017, in remembrance of her son Masakona. The book is a collection of poetic mourning or poems written during her time of mourning. The Heart Knows continues to be a source of comfort for mothers who are grieving.
The Masakona Matsila foundation was brought to life in honor of his short life. The foundation is a way of making a difference in the lives of little ones in rural villages. Mothers who’ve lost their little ones are encouraged to make love bundle of clothes and baby essentials. After that they contact the foundation which will find them a deserving mom and child to send the items to.
Today is one of those days, where the talented actress can’t help but think of her son. If it was up to her, Masebe would turn back the hand of time and reverse the tragedy that happened. She shared a picture of herself with Masakona, and captioned it with the most heartfelt message.
“I’d turn back time if I could. But life does not have second takes. I stay grateful for the time we got. Remembering you fondly. Maṱunu Thavhani! #HRHMasakona,” Masebe said.
