Lunga Shabalala Celebrates A Decade In The Industry, and Opens Up About How He Got His Big Break
Lunga Shabalala Celebrates A Decade In The Industry, and Opens Up About How He Got His Big Break. Indeed time flies when you are having fun. It is hard to believe that Lunga Shabalala has been doing TV for a whole decade.
The multi-talented Lunga rose to fame as a presenter on the SABC 1 entertainment and variety TV show, Selimathunzi. His first job though was in a Coca-Cola commercial. In August 2010, Lunga entered a Calvin Klein modeling competition called Represent South Africa, which he won. He then became an instant around the country and beyond. That is when Lunga broke into television to become one of South Africa presenters.
Well, someone just made his day, by sharing a memory of Lunga back in 2011 killing it as a model. We all know, how brutal it is, hence Lunga takes it a blessing that he has been in this industry for a decade.
He also revealed how he got his break in this tough industry. It hasn’t been easy though, as Lunga mentioned that he took so many leaps of faith, but God came through. It all started with a dream to be on TV, movies and magazines. Lunga figured that the best start will be to be a model, and work his way up.
Although he got turned down at most modelling agencies, Lunga did not lose hope. This went on until he signed with Irene’s agency. He started off doing bridal shows, and learned a lot about walking tall, confidence and that killer smile.
