SA’s First Black Female Combat Fighter Pilot Mandisa Mfeka Pens A Letter To Her Critics. If they say you can’t, It’s the more you have to prove you can. Mandisa Mfeka, is one individual who had to turn the lemons thrown at her, into lemonade.

Many got to know Major Mfeka, when she shared the spotlight with President Cyril Ramaphosa as part of the air display during the presidential inauguration at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in 2019. She made it in the history books as SA’s first black woman combat fighter pilot. Although she had dreamed of becoming a combat pilot, she never thought it was possible.

It hasn’t been an easy journey though, and Mfeka, went through a lot to be where she is. Instead of taking it in a negative way, Major Mfeka is thanking her critics for pushing her beyond limits. Mfeka drew her strength from being laughed at,being picked on left out, and so forth and so on.

“I am stronger today because of you. I may not be where I wish to be, but know that your contributions hasn’t gone unnoticed. Today, I extend this olive branch and tender to heart to you and say thank you,” Mfeka said.
