SA Celebs React To The Death Of Football Legend Diego Maradona. On yet another sad note, the world is mourning one of the loss of a football legend. News coming in is that Diego Maradona, has passed away, at the age of 60.
The Argentina World Cup winner and the national teamβs former manager had been in hospital in Buenos Aires after surgery to remove a blood clot onΒ the brain earlier this month. Unfortunately, DIego passed away after being released from hospital.
South Africa had a very special place in t he late Diego’s heart. This became evident when he toured the country back in 2010. Diego, revealed that, he will never forget the day that he visited two historically disadvantaged schools in Pretoria. He also visited a secondary school in Soweto, as host of a soccer clinic.
“I have received many welcomes in my football career across the world, but the warmth you have shown me will make me not to forget this day in my lifetime. With each kiss and every hug, I felt I had a friend, so this is not our last visit to your area as we are still coming back during the FIFA World Cup,” he said.
