10 Interesting Facts You Might Not Have Known About V Mash. Many describe her as the ‘IT’ girl of the 90’s. It goes without saying that Vinolia Mashego was the epitome of the entertainment industry back then.
Sadly just like some stars she faced some trials and hit rock bottom. The late Vinolia though tried to revive her career and was gradually making a comeback until her untimely death. Here are 10 facts to remind us about the late star.
1. 57 year old Vinolia Mashego was the oldest of three children.
2. One of her many talents included acting, which kicked off on SABC1 soapie Generations, playing the role of Hilda Letlalo.
3. Mashego also had a starring role as Pearl in the half-hour drama series Di Wele Makgolela, which aired on the now-defunct CCV-TV channel in the early 1990s.
4. Her stardom reached peak level when she co-hosted Jam Alley from 1994 (originally on CCV-TV and later on SABC1) until 2001, when she was fired by producers for increasingly erratic behavior.
5. Despite all this her talent never died and Vinolia re-appeared in the minor recurring role of Meme’s mother on the SABC2 soap opera Muvhango, in February 2010.
6. She also reclaimed her TV hosting duties as years went by. In 2014, Vinolia hosted music show PLS Call Me that aired on Mzansi Magic Music.
7. In 2019, Vinolia was last year cast in SABC2’s star-studded first Tsonga telenovela Giyani: Land of Blood.
8. The multi talented star was also a singer of note back in the day. She worked with big musicians like Mercy Phakela on successful music projects.
9. At the time of her death, Mashego was also recently the host of TV show BhekaMina on Moja Love.
10. Vinolia who died in her sleep on Sunday night is survived by one son, Oratile, who is in his 20s.
