SA Celebs React To Mmusi Maimane Resigning As DA Leader. After putting people in suspense for hours Mmusi Maimane has finally addressed the nation. After four years as a leader of the Democratic Alliance party, Maimane has rendered in his resignation.

Addressing the press in Bruma, Johannesburg, Maimane said he had set out to free South Africa from the oppressive leadership of the ANC, and it was his love of South Africa that had led him into politics, despite not being a politician.

Maimane resigned a day after former Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba called it quits. “We are not stepping away from politics. We will continue with the vision for one South Africa. As long as I have air in my lungs, that dream, that fight must continue,” he said.

As public figures, politicians also aired their views on the burning issue which has been trending from the wee hour of Wednesday.
