Stock Clerk Opportunity at Clicks Montague Gardens DC

Clicks Group is looking for two Stock Clerks to join its Inventory department at the Montague Gardens Distribution Centre in Cape Town. This permanent opportunity is suited to a detail-oriented and reliable person who understands the importance of accurate stock control in a busy warehouse environment. The successful candidates will help manage stock movements, investigate discrepancies between physical and system stock and support accurate inventory balances. If you have Grade 12, strong basic numeracy and communication skills and an interest in warehouse operations, this could be a valuable opportunity to build your career in supply chain and inventory management.

The Stock Clerk will play an important role in ensuring that physical stock within the distribution centre matches the quantities recorded on the system. This requires careful administration of stock movements and adjustments, accurate auditing and effective communication with internal teams. The position also supports the picking team by helping ensure that required products are available in the correct slots to meet infill targets. Candidates should be comfortable following procedures and working accurately in a fast-paced distribution environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and maintain stock movements and stock balances within the allocated section.
  • Ensure physical stock balances correctly with stock recorded on the system.
  • Administer stock movements and adjustments accurately.

  • Planning and organising skills will be advantageous.
  • Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Ability to adapt to changing operational requirements.

The ideal candidate should understand how important accurate inventory records are to a distribution centre. Even small stock discrepancies can affect picking, customer orders and overall warehouse performance, so the role requires careful attention to detail. You will need to compare physical stock with system information, identify variances and communicate issues to the appropriate teams. Good problem-solving skills will help you investigate discrepancies and support corrective action.

The role also requires strong teamwork and communication. You will interact with internal partners to ensure stock is available where it is needed and that the allocated section operates efficiently. At the same time, you must be able to work independently and take responsibility for completing assigned tasks accurately. Candidates should also be comfortable working in a structured environment where safety, housekeeping and compliance requirements are important.
