Cubix is offering a 12-month paid internship for an Intern IT Helpdesk Administrator in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The IT Helpdesk Administrator Intern will provide first-line technical support while assisting with the administration of IT systems, equipment and service desk processes. You will gain exposure to user account management, software support, asset tracking, IT stock management and third-party support coordination. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line technical support to end-users.
  • Assist with resolving IT incidents and service requests.
  • Manage and allocate IT Service Desk tickets.
  • Assist with IT asset management, including repairs, tagging and asset assignments.
  • Track IT equipment and maintain accurate asset records.
  • Assist with third-party support escalations.
  • Support data SIM management and related administration.
  • Coordinate stock capacity requirements for the business.
  • Assist with Active Directory user account creation and termination.
  • Assist with email account creation and termination.
  • Support user access administration.
  • Assist with software installations and business-as-usual software administration.
  • Update IT processes and systems documentation.
  • Assist with the implementation of new technologies within the company.
  • Support Finance with invoicing requests, queries, delivery trackers and account allocations.
  • Assist with e-waste disposal management.
  • Perform daily Mimecast mail release activities.
  • Assist with archived email search requests from departments.
  • Complete daily Mimecast checks and release approved emails.
  • Manage and maintain the IT storeroom.
  • Monitor IT stock levels and inventory.
  • Assist with SMS portal credit management and allocations.
  • Maintain accurate records across IT systems and documentation.
  • Escalate technical issues appropriately when they cannot be resolved at first-line level.

Requirements and Skills

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • National Senior Certificate or Grade 12.
  • CompTIA A+ certification is required.
  • CompTIA Network+ certification is required.
  • IT-related Diploma or Certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Support or a related field.
  • Must have a clear criminal record.
  • Must have a clear ITC record.
  • Must be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • Must not currently be employed.
  • Must not currently be participating in another internship or learnership programme.
  • Strong interest in IT support and technical systems.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow established procedures.
  • Customer-focused approach when assisting users.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting required deadlines.
