Tony Forbes Pens Touching Statement After Releasing AKA and Anele Temebe’s WhatsApp Messages. Both Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Anele Tembe died tragically, and there has been speculations over their deaths. An inquest has been scheduled for September to re-examine the circumstances surrounding Tembe’s death. With that on the cards, Tony Forbes, shared a series of WhatsApp messages exchanged between AKA and members of the Tembe family.
One exchange is between AKA and a lawyer representing the Tembe family on the day of an earlier incident at the Hilton Hotel in Durban, where Anele was reportedly threatening to jump from the building. In message, AKA told Moses Tembe, Anele’s father that he believed she was not taking her medication as prescribed and that he was considering sending her back home.
Tony released the messages on Sunday night, a couple of years after having them. He said he did this as a father, who is fighting for his son’s name and memory. After years of speculations, Tony believes the texts will bring balance and facts. He encouraged the public to read the texts and decide for themselves.

Seven suspects accused of involvement in the murders have since been arrested.
The trial is scheduled to be heard in the KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Durban from 5 October to 8 November 2026, with pre-trial proceedings set to resume on 13 August 2026.
