As a Casual Merchandiser, you will play an important role in ensuring that the store remains fully stocked, well-organised and visually appealing for customers. You will help maintain Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards while providing excellent customer service and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the store. This role is well suited to energetic individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced retail environment, have a keen eye for detail and take pride in delivering outstanding customer experiences.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Up to six months of retail experience.
- Computer literate with basic MS Office knowledge.
- Willing and able to work retail hours.
Advantageous qualifications and experience include:
- At least one year of retail experience.
- Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry.
- Product and category knowledge.
- Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stock taking.
- Bilingual communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Restock merchandise to ensure maximum product availability.
- Ensure delivered stock is unpacked, stored and packed correctly.
- Monitor shelf stock and remove products approaching their sell-by date.
- Ensure the full product range is available on shelves at all times.
- Rotate stock using the FIFO method.
- Report low stock, damaged, expired and out-of-stock items to management.
- Assist with stock counts and general stocktaking activities.
- Maintain merchandising displays according to Dis-Chem standards and planograms.
- Ensure shelves are neat, fully stocked and correctly labelled.
- Report pricing discrepancies promptly.
- Keep up to date with current products and promotions.
- Maintain cleanliness of displays, shelves, storeroom areas and the shop floor.
- Assist with loading and off-loading stock deliveries.
- Ensure products without barcodes are correctly identified.
- Assist with back shopping and stock replenishment.
- Support the training of new team members when required.
- Provide friendly, professional and helpful customer service.
- Follow up on customer stock enquiries and out-of-stock requests.
- Wear the correct company uniform and identification badge at all times.
- Minimise stock losses by handling merchandise carefully.
- Comply with all Dis-Chem policies, standard operating procedures and health and safety regulations.
