@home is offering a YES Youth Opportunity at Stellenbosch Square in Western Cape. This is a 12-month fixed term programme aimed at young South Africans who want their first real exposure to the retail industry. The role gives you hands-on experience in store operations, customer service, stock handling and sales support in a structured retail environment. You will work alongside experienced team members while learning how a leading homeware brand operates on a daily basis. This opportunity is designed to help you build workplace skills, confidence and employability for future permanent roles.

Job Overview And Responsibilities

• Assist customers in store with product information and basic service support
• Support sales staff with day-to-day retail activities
• Help with stock unpacking, shelving and replenishment
• Maintain clean, organised and presentable store areas
• Assist with merchandising and product displays
• Support point-of-sale activities under supervision
• Follow store procedures and safety standards at all times
• Participate in training sessions and workplace development activities
• Provide general assistance across different store departments
• Learn retail systems, customer service standards and sales processes
• Support team members during busy trading periods
• Help ensure a positive customer experience in-store

Requirements And Skills

• Aged between 18 and 28 years
• Matric preferred but not always compulsory
• Must not be employed permanently for more than 12 months with one employer
• Must not be studying full-time during the programme period
• Must not have previously completed the YES programme
• Willingness to work a 12-month fixed term contract
• Ability to work in a retail environment
• Good communication and willingness to learn
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills
• Team player with a positive attitude
• Ability to follow instructions and store procedures
• Customer focused mindset
• Reliable and punctual work ethic
• Ability to work weekends and retail trading hours
