Job Overview
The Pharmacist Assistant role focuses on supporting pharmaceutical services within the scope of practice while ensuring efficient dispensary operations. You will assist with dispensing, stock control, compounding, and pharmacy administration in line with company SOPs. The role requires strong attention to detail, compliance with legal requirements, and a customer-focused approach. You will also provide basic health advice and support customers with over-the-counter product information. This role plays an important part in ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient pharmacy service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide high-quality customer service and pharmaceutical care within scope of practice
• Assist with dispensing of medication under supervision
• Maintain accurate dispensary administration and records
• Support stock control including receiving, storing, and repacking medication
• Assist with compounding and preparation of pharmaceutical products
• Provide basic health advice to customers within approved guidelines
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping in the dispensary and store
• Ensure compliance with SAPC regulations and company SOPs
• Support OTC product sales and health aisle customer guidance
• Assist with inventory management and stock rotation
• Maintain accuracy in all calculations and prescription handling
• Support general pharmacy operational tasks as required
Requirements And Skills
• Grade 12 with Mathematics (essential)
• Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council as Pharmacist Assistant (learner, post-basic, or qualified level)
• Strong understanding of pharmacy practices and legal requirements
• Good product knowledge in OTC and health-related items
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good customer service and communication skills
• Basic numerical and calculation ability
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures strictly
• Computer literacy and familiarity with pharmacy systems
• Strong ethical conduct and professionalism
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a regulated and structured environment
