The actress behind the interesting role is Sonia Mbele, who has been posting interesting content of herself onset. The talented actress and producer joined Scandal! in November 2025 as Mamsie. The character is a poetic whirlwind whose dazzling charm masks a master manipulator. She is Botsotso’s mother, a character played by actor and TV personality Wright Ngubeni. Mamsie is a mom who has been an absent parent, due to chasing life in the entertainment industry. Dressed in faded luxury and dripping with 90s glamour, she captivates with metaphors, misdirection, and a flair for drama. Beneath her vintage allure lies a woman who always leaves with more than she came for, trouble wrapped in mystery.
After causing chaos where her son was renting, Mamsie went MIA. Now she is back, and of course Botsotso’s life is about to turn upside down. Sonia has taken it upon herself to reintroduce Mamsie to viewers who may not be aware of who she is.
“If you haven’t met Mamsie here she is. She’s an old school mashayashaya, she hasn’t learned that the game of scam has since gone to sophistication school of thought and processing. She left SA in the 90’s with a singing/dancing group called “Mayibuye” to perform all over Europe. She got there, found what she thought was love and left the group…even though the group has since come back since then Mamsie thought to push her hustle even further. Marries an Italian who’s a bigger scammer, things don’t work out, now she has no choice but to come back home, tired and washed out 🤦🏽♀️ now it’s time to find her son Absolome AKA Botsotso…let the madness begin,” Sonia said.
