Job Description
Cape Herb & Spice is offering a 6 month contract opportunity for a Food Technologist Graduate within its New Product Development (NPD) division. The role is based in Westlake Business Park, Tokai, and focuses on supporting product development activities within the spice manufacturing environment. This position is designed for graduates or early career professionals who want hands-on exposure to food science, product testing, and technical development processes.
The role sits within a fast-moving manufacturing environment where product consistency, quality control, and innovation are essential. You will work closely with the NPD Food Technologist and support key technical functions related to recipe development, product testing, and research documentation.
Key Responsibilities
• Support research activities and build technical data for new product development projects
• Assist with documentation and tracking of NPD technical information
• Provide technical support and problem-solving assistance within the department
• Coordinate recipe tastings and product testing sessions
• Help ensure products meet internal quality and safety standards
• Support continuous improvement within food development processes
• Assist with data organisation and reporting for NPD projects
Minimum Requirements
• Graduate or early-career qualification in Food Technology, Food Science, or Consumer Science
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Proactive mindset with ability to take initiative
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
• Competent in Microsoft Office
• Intermediate Excel skills for data handling and reporting
No prior full-time experience is required, making this role suitable for recent graduates looking to build industry experience in food manufacturing and product development.

Work Environment and Expectations
