Bakwena Media Responds to the SABC Statement Regarding Pimville’s Production Status. It’s not raining but pouring there by Bakwena Productions. Sadly the cast and crew members of Pimville are suffering the most.
There has allegations of financial mismanagement by the leadership of the production house, Rashaka “Rush” Muofhe. The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) confirmed that they have duly fulfilled its contractual obligations to Bakwena Productions. The corporation revealed that it is up to date with payments, underscoring its commitment to the smooth running of productions. SABC issued a firm update that placed responsibility on the production company.
A few days back, SABC, shared another update, this time regarding the status of Pimville. Following a thorough review process and careful consideration, a decision was taken that the telenovela discontinue airing. This is due to unresolved contractual obligations and breaches identified and communicated formally to Bakwena Productions.
SABC further stated that, the discontinuation of the programme at this stage does not necessarily mean the end of Pimville. The corporation continues to assess various operational options regarding the future of the production, and further updates will be communicated should there be material developments.
Bakwena Productions Media Group has released a media statement after SABC shared theirs. They reject any narrative that their production challenges are because of them. Bakwena accuses the SABC of not being up to date with payments.
“Repeated contractual breaches, delayed approvals, operational challenges, governance inconsistencies and payment defaults committed by the SABC significantly impacted the sustainability of the production,” the production company said.
In addition Bakwena shared their deep concern on the discontinuation of Pimville. This means loss of jobs for the cast and crew members, resulting in devastating disruptions in their lives. They have thus urged the SABC to not remove them as the producers.
