“A Moment Where Time Simply Stood Still,” Basetsana Kumalo On Interviewing Michael Jackson. Today is a very special day for Michael Jackson’s fans in South Africa. The highly anticipated Michael movie is premiering today in cinemas across the country.
For the build up, local celebrities gathered up at The Mall of Africa where they watched the premier. The likes of Theo Kgosinkwe, his wife Vourne, Salamina and Howza Mosese, Connie Ferguson, Buntu Petse, Zanele Potelwa, Robot Booi and many others came rocking outfits inspired by the undisputed King of Pop.
We also have some few privileged individuals, who have personally interacted with Michael, before his untimely death. One such is Basetsana Kumalo, who got to interview him. The former beauty Queen and media mogul takes this as the greatest honor of her career.
“In the tapestry of my career, embroidered with threads of incredible journeys and global icons, there is one moment that glimmers with a light all its own.
I have stood on world stages and sat across from giants, but to stand opposite the King of Pop, the legend himself, Michael Jackson, was a moment where time simply stood still.
He didn’t just create music; he birthed movements. He didn’t just perform; he shifted the very soul of global culture. As we witness the national release of the biopic “Michael,” we aren’t just watching a film. We are honoring a life that taught the world how to dream in rhythm.
I am profoundly grateful that I can say, with a full heart, that I interviewed the man who changed everything. A once-in-a-lifetime grace for a once-in-a-lifetime legend.
The King of Pop. The magic. The legacy. Can you feel it? 👑,” Basetsana said.
